FHK asymmetrical total knee prosthesis
The FHK total knee replacement with an asymmetrical rotating spacer is a one-of-a-kind prosthesis that comes close to the natural biomechanics of the knee thanks to the medialisation of its centre of rotation.
This asymmetrical rotation allows for automatic internal rotation of the tibia during flexion, thereby reducing patellar stresses through kinematic alignment of the extensor apparatus, and in so doing reinforcing its action.

The FHK total knee replacement with an asymmetrical rotating spacer is a one-of-a-kind prosthesis that comes close to the natural biomechanics of the knee thanks to the medialisation of its centre of rotation.

Features and materials
- Tibial and femoral implants are manufactured in CoCr (Cobalt Chrome) available cemented and cementless,
- The inserts are made of UHMWPE polyethylene (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene),
- Cementless femoral components compatible with asymmetrical FHK receive a T40 titanium projection on their inner surface and a hydroxyapatite coating for secondary fixation,
- Depending on bone quality, tibial extension stems are available in two lengths and two diameters.
Patella
The patellar implant is available in two versions:
- Inlay,
- Resurfacing.
Instrumentation
For quick and easy handling, FHK asymmetric uses the same basic instrumentation as the rest of the FHK knee prosthesis range, with a few specific ancillaries:
- An asymmetrical tray impactor,
- Left and right PE trials,
- Asymmetrical tibial templates.
FHK instrumentation, in four baskets, is able to adapt to surgeons philosophy:
- Cutting orders choice,
- Femoral reference choice (anterior or posterior),
- Femoral cuts choice (1+4 or 5 in 1),
- Tibial alignment choice (intra or extramedullary).
